from !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , the best method yet to determine if you are Gen X or Y.

If you're too young to remember where you were when the Challenger exploded, Gen Y.
That should close that discussion neatly.

Great determiner. I remember where I was when it happened.

I remember it clear as day.
It was dark, and I was surrounded by this weird fluid.
I was a lot smaller then though. Like microscopic almost... but I was growing.
So which one am I?..

Holy crap! That was 28 years ago? Okay, what do you have to remember to be a Gen X?

Fuck that, I'm born in '81, I can't remember where I was January the 28th in '86 simply because I'm from northern Europe and the challenger stuff was never really that big of a deal here.

I'm glad I've been re-Xed. I was in class watching.

I just want to say, as a 'millenial' a lot of the crap about not having jobs and all that is really unfair to pin on us. It's not our fault the Gen Xers totally borked the economy before we became self sufficient adults
![]() 08/04/2014 at 16:33 |
|
YOU CALLIN ME A MILLENNIAL BOY!?
FUCK THAT SHIT!
there has to be an in between of X and Y. I am 100% opposite of a pinch millennial de cagada.

I don't know us X'ers borked it, that might be from the cats of a fatter nature. I would say that was a long time coming. I don't feed into the crap people say about millenials anyways

As someone trying to become a self-sufficient adult and taking a look at the economy today:
Shiiiiit.

When I started college the attitude was 'be an engineer, the world always needs engineers, you're guaranteed a job!'
By junior year it looked bleak at best. When I graduated I think about half my class actually had jobs waiting, if that. It's starting to improve I think, but it's still pretty bad.
![]() 08/04/2014 at 16:53 |

You, sir, are Gen Y Number One. Unfortunately, that means that skinny jeans are your fault. Sorry man. ;)
![]() 08/04/2014 at 16:56 |
|
Well you see, I was born in 96 which is the disputed cutoff year between millennials and current gen. I tend to associate with the mellennials because I'd rather not be in the generation that can't remember 9/11 and that doesn't look up from their phone.
![]() 08/04/2014 at 16:57 |

F that noise. I never worn, nor never will wear skinny jeans. The thighs don't fit past my calfs. I could curl some of these skinny jean wearing punks.
Can I disown my generation? PLEASE????
![]() 08/04/2014 at 17:21 |

Ok, ok. We'll let it slide. I won't hold you accountable for that. But you must answer these questions three, WITHOUT THE GOOGLES:
WHAT are the spoken lines during the breaks in Van Halens's "Hot For Teacher"?
WHAT was you favorite color truck in the Ivan Stewart Off Road arcade game?
WHAT is Iran-Contra in 140 characters or less?
I keed, I keed. You're ok, because Oppo.
![]() 08/04/2014 at 17:35 |

1. Who is Van Halen? If its not Little Wayne I want nothing to do with it.
2. What is Ivan Stweart Off road? what are you like 90? its called FORZA...
3. Iran-Contra is only 10 characters as is so its already 140 characters or less.
...
(You can hate me now. But I wont stop now)

Shots fired!
do your homework skippy.
Gen X took it square in the azz when the economy tanked, we were decimated when the houses we had just bought became worthless overnight. the collective numbers of real estate equity loss and how it crushed our net worth sits squarely on the shoulders of "X". Boomers lost more based on gross numbers, however that IS NOT the same as the % of net worth hit we took.
50% of five bucks really screws your lunch plans as compared to a Boomer losing 50% of his $20.
you have to dig for any economic gems like that in the mainstream news but anybody who knows macro econ knows it guaranteed us a lesser fate than our parents ( this has been old news since we were in our twenties). Its taken too long for mainstream media to admit that, it only been rolled out as and attached to the millenials because after all...THE CHILDREN!
"y" and millenials, good luck. Dont ask us X for much, we never had the political power to do anything by nature of our %-tage of the US population, all were doing is treading water and trying to survive. Too many scared old boomers in front of us holding up our prospects, and economically desperate y's and millennials nipping at our heels.
I look at my kids and honestly get depressed.
I was working on my MBA during the crisis, My econ profs were having nervous outbreaks daily, back then. We students all were, because we were newly smart enough to understand the nightmare that was unfolding in front of us, we pondered not knowing at all like most people.

1. amonst otheres... " i got my pencil!" oh yeah! gimme somehting to write on!"
2. didnt play it.
3. Ollie North spills the beans, guns and money between iran, the CIA, and a central american drug cartel. its pretty hazy, But it was Ronnie ray-guns regime and he didn't remember.

I'm glad he helped us re X ourselves. It sounds like some racing term.

Don't blame the X'ers. Alot of us lost our homes in this mess. I was enlisted in the US Army when the economy tanked. I lost my 1st house because my renter that was renting from me lost her job(The house was in my home town while I was stationed across the country.) I couldn't find another renter and attempted to sell it before foreclosure. I wasn't successful.

GenXers borked the economy? What are you smokin'? It was the Boomers.
Except for Vietnam (and I admit that one was a biggie) those greedy mother fuckers got what they wanted out of government at every turn. I just said over the weekend to a Boomer that they will gladly ruin the entire economy if it means they get all of that social security and the thankless bitch replied 'well we EARNED it!' So, yes, yes she will wreck everyone else's economy to get what's 'hers.' Xers and Millienials are in this shit together.

As someone from Gen X that nearly drowned in the baggy clothes phase...
Thank you very much for skinny jeans. First time in my life my pants fit.
